Student Diversity in the Classroom

|
Author Anais Nin stated, “We don’t see things as they are, we
see things as we are.” Cultural awareness is a critical element
in today’s educational environment. When we value diversity, we
are supporting and respecting each person’s right to be who they
are – a unique individual. |
| |
|
CARE’s WorkLife Solutions provides you the resources
needed to successfully create a safe, thriving school for both
staff and students. Our Diversity in the Classroom training is
designed to discuss with staff the need for increased cultural
awareness based on our changing student population. Schools in
the tri-county area have been providing this interactive
training to their staff during in-services. |

Interpersonal Relationships |
|
Developing effective relationships with coworkers is a critical
factor in personal success. Working well with others translates
to better interpersonal communication skills. In respecting
others in our workplace and learning to handle conflict, we can
decrease our work-related stress. The skills we use to relate
within the work environment are also transferable to our
personal lives. These workshops are designed to help employees
become more successful team players. |
| |
|
Organizational Development |
| Today’s
organizations must continue to become more efficient and
effective to succeed. These workshops provide tools necessary
for employees and supervisors. Productivity stems from
well-rounded employees that can react quickly, work well
together and be self-motivated. Increasing employee morale is a
low cost approach to creating a quality work environment.
Creating a productive workforce requires true professional
development in areas that strengthen the core of the
organization. |
| |
|
Risk
Management |
|
Decisions to
reduce vulnerabilities by either mitigating the risks or
applying cost effective controls are necessary to create a
productive workforce. The process of identifying, assessing, and
controlling risks arising from operational factors and making
decisions that balance risk cost with mission benefits is risk
management. Also, WorkLife Solutions orientations are
available to maximize program understanding, confidence and
utilization. |
| |
|
Personal Development |
| In order
to work most successfully with others, we need to consider our
own personal strengths and areas for growth. These workshops
provide a combination of new and advanced skills to become a
more productive employee. To open up our minds to new ideas, new
challenges and new solutions, each person must be willing to
challenge their personal growth. “You cannot teach a man
anything; you can only help him find it within himself.”

Quarterly meetings |
| CARE’s
WorkLife
Solutions hosts a quarterly meeting for our contracted
companies. During these meetings, we discuss current human
resource concerns and brainstorm solutions. The quarterly
meetings are a great opportunity for our many companies to
network with each other. We are told over and over again how
helpful it is for human resource professionals to meet other HR
professionals in their industry and in their community. With
similar challenges, the companies can reach out to each other
and create a forum for communication. |
| |
| Also
during these quarterly meetings, a CARE’s
WorkLife
Solutions Trainer conducts a training session. These
trainings offer the attendees an opportunity to experience a new
training on a relevant topic that they can then take back to
their organization. |
